I'm Akil Grubb, a photographer born and based in Brooklyn, New York. My practice spans environmental portraiture and editorial work, shot primarily on film.
I'm drawn to the perception of real human moments. Creating imagery that feels lived-in and honest rather than manufactured.
I’ve collaborated with musicians including Hadji Gaviota, Elmjack, Asoh Black, and Isa Costa on album cover/EP visuals and press photos.
My images have appeared in Interview Magazine and Musée magazine, and I was named a Top 200 Finalist for Photolucida's Critical Mass in 2026.
My film credits include assistant camera on The Anniversary (New York Shorts Film Festival, 2026).
